Making History

How will humanoid robots transform the world in the future? Are you confident to be one of the first 10 talents in our Physical Robotics team?

We are looking for candidates who are genuinely passionate about robotics/AI and have a strong desire to innovate. They should be excited about the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and demonstrate a track record of creative problem-solving.

The candidates should have experience in electronics design as well as a deep understanding of the field's technical challenges and advancements. They should see opportunities where others see only challenges and devise innovative solutions to problems.

Vision of the Company

Physical Robotics AS is a start-up company based in Norway. The company is backed by a top VC in Norway and local industries and investors in the Oslo-Viken region. We are at the forefront of humanoid robot development, creating robots capable of performing physical tasks with dexterity similar to humans for jobs that humans do not want to do.

The company is racing to develop robot hardware and physical intelligence, competing with global players like Tesla, Figure, Boston Dynamics, Toyota, Xiaomi, and 1X Technologies. We aim to lead the application of humanoid robots in manufacturing and industries by 2027-2028.

Abstract

The position is among the first core team members, each contributing individual expertise to develop a humanoid robot from scratch. The candidate will take responsibility for designing and managing the entire electronics and electrical design and production process, including PMSM motor drivers, sensor boards, central boards, and power distribution boards. As we progress, the candidate will transition into a hands-on leadership role, guiding the electrical team forward.

Collaboration of the Candidate Within the Company

  1. With CEO/CTO: To receive input on the concept and design requirements for robotic electrical systems.
  2. With Embedded Programmer: To complete the firmware design.
  3. With Control Expert: To manage and tune electro-mechanical systems.
  4. With Production Team: To ensure boards are produced efficiently.
  5. With Testing and Assembly Team: To verify the design.

Expected Qualifications and Background of the Candidate

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from a high-ranking university.
  2. Advanced user of Altium (or equivalent); proficient in designing high switching frequency (~60 kHz), high current electronic boards for motors (~100A), encoders, and sensors. Expertise in circuit simulation tools.
  3. Experience designing high-performance microcontroller-based control systems (e.g., Texas Instruments, STMicroelectronics) and familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, RS485, BISS-C, CAN, and EtherCAT.
  4. Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques to ensure manufacturability for mid- and high-volume production. Winning well-known robotics competitions is a plus.

Benefits
